My big ONE year old!

My littlest little is a big ONE year old!!!!  We had a family birthday party complete with an obstacle course designed by big sister and one of Remi's favorite meals of chili and cornbread (cornbread just to make it a complete feeling meal--she really is just all about the chili).  We then had a yummy banana cream cheese frosting cake with blueberries (all favorites as well!).   Here are some of my favorite pictures from the occasion:
Big Sister was in charge of cake decorating

Happy parents!

Cousin Wyatt and Remi working on the obstacle course

It's my birthday, I can eat chili all over my face if I want to....

Cousin Ava stopping to read some books on top of the obstacle course
Happy birthday Dearest Remi!!!

Eating cake like I'm a cake expert (but it's my first taste ever!)

That is one way to open presents.....
They love each other SSSOOO much!
It was a very fun party!  And I can't believe my baby is almost gone.  Remi is not quite walking yet but I expect it any day.  She does take unassisted steps here and there.  She went to the doctors for her one year check up and weighs 23 pounds and is 2 feet 6 inches tall.  She continues to be a very physical and opinionated goof.  She also has started throwing EVERYTHING.  If this girl is not a baseball player then I will be shocked.  She even plays fetch with herself where she throws something and then goes and gets it and then throws it again, etc. She loves when her big sister throws her stuff to go get.  We love this girl so much!  I can't wait to see what is in in store for her...  Happy first year of life and now your baby book is complete as well! xo
Sorry you are in your PJs for your last picture but it was hard to remember to take a picture during the day when you are a busy bee.  Happy 12 months to my favorite littlest lady!  We love you Roo!

11 Months

We are so close to one year old mark right now that I am counting down the days until I can stop worrying about pumping so much milk and mourning every day simultaneously.  Remi took her first steps this month.  She was holding onto the book shelf and had a book in her hand.  Without even noticing she let go and took a few steps.  I made her do it again so I could take this picture:

But she has not done it since.  And if you try and make her do it she immediately sits down.  Things have been going smoothly.  Sleeping well.  Wearing 18mo-2yo clothes.  Interested in everything and rarely is in one spot for long.  Still VERY attached to her Dada.  Loving her sister.  Loving Rio puppy.  Good eater.  She drives me crazy at times.  Like constantly has to be pulling on my hair when she nurses (ouch) or throws food on the floor when she is done even though she knows the sign for "all done" or not allowing us to read her books because she wants to hold them.  BUT despite her "strong personality" we sure do have lots of love for this fiery spirit.  She smiles frequently, laughs hard, and has a very ticklish neck that I love to kiss.  We have been planning her first birthday which will be obstacle course race themed to match her active and daring personality.

10 Months

My baby is looking less like a baby everyday! :(  Remi is moving all around now.  She is cruising more and is such a brave child that I wouldn't be surprised if she started walking soon.  She has already let go a few times when standing.  She also prefers to be placed in the standing position when set down, even when there is nothing around for her to hold on to.  We are working on managing our frustrations this month because oh my goodness does this girl have a temper that goes from zero to one hundred and then back to zero (which we appreciate).  She is highly sensitive around transitions and is very determined to get her way with everything.  If things are going her way then she can be super chill.  She still does not really sleep at daycare (sensitive to noise and does not want to miss out on a thing).  She wasn't too into her Christmas gifts but loved the bows on the presents.  She sorted the bows in a box (it was the strangest thing!).  I feel like I am getting little insights into how her longterm personality will be everyday (and some of it makes me a tad nervous....haha).  She is a pretty good eater.  Garden burgers, stew, blueberries and bananas are her favorite things.  She plays with toys very roughly.  She loves to throw things so we have to watch out because a block hitting you in the face is not so fun.  I am pretty sure her first word was "Mama" but she only said it for a few days before switching to "Dada" and now she rarely says Mama.  But her saying Dada is fitting because she is a total Daddy's girl.  She has also said "more," "water," "hi," "bye," "yeah," and "no."  I think she will have good language skills.  She is just an active, strong, coordinated, hands-on, and determined child.  It's funny how different she is than her big sister.  But the two seem to get along for now, so that is always good!

Happy 10 months Remiroo!

9 Months

And she is crawling!  She still army crawls every now and again but mostly just normal crawling.  And she is so little and cute that it is my favorite thing to watch her move about the house.  She has no fear of leaving us and going into different rooms (her older sister used to stay right by our side!) and she loves finding little bits of dirt on the ground and putting it into her mouth (making a healthy immune system, right?!).   She is pulling up and starting to cruise on furniture.  She claps for herself and loves to smile and laugh.  Her mood goes from happy to angry very quickly.  She is pretty dramatic and extreme.  She knows what she wants and if she does not get it....then everyone is in trouble.  When upset she loves to throw her head back so we have to be careful she won't hit it on anything.  She has had her share of strangers hold her and almost drop her because of her forceful movements (this girl is STRONG!).  We just got lots of personality in this little girl.  We are having fun continuing to get to know her!  She is already in 18 month clothing (mostly due to her length).  At her 9 month check up we learned she is 19 pounds and 13.5 ounces and 2.5 feet tall.

Happy 9 months!
